The patterns of Nashville's development and problems are in no way unique. All of the cities of the United States have these patterns to some degree. Currently Birmingham Alabama is contending with problems of a dying downtown in favor of expanding suburbs. Paducah Kentucky, a city which is smaller than Nashville, is also experiencing a downtown in need of revitalization. New York City is experiencing extreme consequences of over-zoning of businesses in residential areas. The solutions to these problems, however, are unique to each city. Although, Nashville is not a model city, it has fared well in comparison to other cities. Hopefully, it will continue to be successful in the years to come.
